Entering the Neighborhood of Make-Believe is a key moment in every episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. All of the puppet characters featured in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe were voiced by Fred Rogers. The residents of the Neighborhood worked together to learn new things and have new experiences. Iconic characters include the soft-spoken Daniel Striped Tiger, X the Owl, King Friday, Queen Sarah, and Henrietta Pussycat.

Many of the characters in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe have been featured in their own books and television programs that are separate from Mister Rogers Neighborhood. In 1975, Little Golden Books published the book Henrietta Meets Someone New. To celebrate the longevity of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and the timelessness of its stories the original golden book has been reprinted and re-released for a new generation of children to enjoy.

The book is about a visitor coming to the Neighborhood and begins with Henrietta strolling through the neighborhood happy that she is with close friends. While visiting Grandepere’s home, Henrietta becomes upset to learn that someone knew is coming to the neighborhood, she is afraid that things will change in the neighborhood and visits her other friends in the neighborhood to talk about this feeling. During her visits she learns that it is good to make new friends and that we shouldn’t be afraid to meet new friends. This book features Henrietta speaking in full sentences instead of her typical “meows” that are part of her performance in the television show.
